The Rock is…

…the student ministry of Mount of Olives Church in Mission Viejo, California. It has been said that 80% of people who will develop a relationship with God will do so before The age of twenty. Therefore at The Rock, we are very intentional in all that we do. Our goal is to offer young people the invitation to meet Christ and grow into a relationship with Him by creating an environment appealing enough to be attractive, beneficial enough to be life changing, and authentic enough to be shared.

At our weekly events, we have an amazing band made up of students and professional musicians that leads us weekly in praise and worship. Students hear a message rooted in The Bible, and can also participate in Small Groups where they can get connected to a community and discuss what they’ve learned.

Every summer and winter, we offer retreats for middle school and high school students giving students get a chance to get away, connect with others and dig into God's Word. Students also attend church together on Sunday mornings at 11:00am in the Mount of Olives Church worship center.

Reaching teens with the message of Jesus Christ has been a focus of the ministry of Mount of Olives since the church was established in 1967. Student ministries for decades has provided Bible studies, fun activities and summer and winter retreats to give students an opportunity to invite their friends to church to hear the message of Christ.

In 1999, Mount of Olives purchased the old Mission Viejo Library, remodeled it and created a facility dedicated to student ministry — The Rock — we even had the first skatepark in South OC as a means of reaching the youth of this community. Ever since, the program has grown with student worship services, small groups, volunteers/mentors to students, mission trips, retreats and more. The Rock staff and volunteers continue to work to provide ways for students to get connected, know Christ and then grow in their faith by serving and digging deeper into God’s Word.
